Under the slogan “We’re more than a store; we’re a culture shaped by all of you,” Hong Kong’s select store, Loading, persists in providing its audience with lifestyle items spanning art, skate, and music. Despite catering to niche demands, Loading remains steadfast in adhering to its mission.
What made you decide to start Loading initially?
Blanc: I was a skater and noticed that there weren’t many skate and streetwear stores in Hong Kong back in 2007~2008. So, we decided to open a selected street skate clothing store.
What kind of experiences that you want to bring to customers when they are wearing and buying clothes from Loading?
Blanc: We want them to feel comfortable and confident while in our store. Unlike many other independent smaller stores, we aim to provide a friendly and positive atmosphere.
Is there any special standards when it comes to curating brands in your store? What kind of community you’d like to create behind?
Blanc: There are no specific standards for our store as long as the brand has its own distinctive style. Any community is fine with us as long as they put effort into it.
What kind of lifestyle is under the motto: “We’re not just a store; we’re a culture that you all created.”?
Blanc: It is included art, skate, and music.
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges and opportunities facing in the fashion industry, especially streetwear scene in Hong Kong?
Blanc: Despite the presence of many talented artists in Hong Kong, they often struggle to find platforms to showcase their work globally. We hope that one day we can contribute by promoting their work through our platform.
Can you recommend us some streetwear brands you think that is worth to check?
Blanc: Victoria, FFFwld, Fiber Productions and Yeti Out.
What are some of the challenges you encountered while building Loading?
Blanc: We are too niche, and not many people are aware of the brands we carry and the things we make.
Do you have any advice for our readers who are seeking to find a way to start their own brand or career in the fashion industry?
Blanc: Be confident, committed, and sincere.
Be confident, committed, and sincere.
