GENTLE WOMAN : It’s a fast-moving industry and is growing with its own paths in each subculture of the
consumption that is now not demographics wise, but a lifestyle of each group. It is a trend
that occurs in the subculture.
For the future, we think it would be great if there were options for customers in each subculture to express themselves to the fullest. We hope to see everyone accept and be more open to fashion. Let’s support the Asian power to be stronger and go further together in this industry.
Nana : What are some of the challenges you have faced during the course of building your brand?
GENTLE WOMAN : We already have the mood & tone or the overall style that we want to portray, so when
completing a collection, with already pieces in mind, the initial mood & tone will be illustrated throughout the whole collection vividly.
Nana : How do you come up with the themes for each season?
GENTLE WOMAN : We already have the mood & tone or the overall style that we want to portray, so when
completing a collection, with already pieces in mind, the initial mood & tone will be illustrated throughout the whole collection vividly.
Nana : Is there a particular artist, movie, place, book that you would recommend our
readers to check for inspiration?
GENTLE WOMAN : Whether it’s the artist, an individual or place, we believe they all express their stories
through a point of view and present in diverse angle. We highly admire the work of these artists whom we have collaborated with ‘Julie Baker and Summer’ – She expresses herself through vibrancy, unadulterated
spiciness and imperfections. Taking the things from the current situation like Feminism or politics as driving forces in her creations and drawings that comes from social movements.
‘Give me museums’ – The artist represents indulgent in relaxation and the beauty of nature. Also conveying softness and comfort to the eyes of people who sees their work. Emphasis on bright colors, cool tones.
Also, ‘Pomme Chan’ – A highly creative artist that takes the mixture of surrealism with femininity into her work. She produces various types of works including home decoration, little products, patterned clothes etc.
Nana : Do you have any advice for our readers who are seeking to find a way to build a brand like “GENTLE WOMAN”?
GENTLE WOMAN : Find your own uniqueness and keep replenishing it. When we first started out, we barely
got any transactions. But we continued to do what we believe in, kept it consistent, did it every day, until people started to appreciate it.
