In this issue of ASIAN VOICE, we feature Faith Fade, a brand that values being original and true to yourself. While recognizing the fantasized version of life, the brand also sees the reality of life and offers a way to cope with that reality.
Nana : Can you give our readers an introduction to the brand, Faith Fade?
Faith Fade : We developed Faith Fade with the concepts and ideas of what is happening around us. Like what we see everyday in our society, cultures, beliefs, egos, and dramas. We want to share our thoughts and perception through our design. So there’s always a story behind every piece of our design.
Nana : Why did you decide to name it “Faith Fade”?
Faith Fade : Something that we realize is that people’s faith in everything is starting to fade.
We often lose the purpose of their life then end up directed by other people. And sometimes we don’t realize that. By the time we realize, we don’t know how to get on track of our life. So we try to share it to our audience, hoping that some of our pieces related to them and they can feel that they ‘re not alone, and that it will be okay to feel whatever they feel today, and so they have to know when they have to stand up and get back on with their life. Also, Faith and Fade rhymes perfectly.
Nana : What has influenced the creation of the brand and the pieces designed for your brand?
Faith Fade : Mostly problems in societies. For example, we have a piece called Thee Fye, with an eye design that have tears but there’s also one that has a smiling face inside the eye and a message that says “smiling while dying!”
This pieces was inspired from our relatives and how many experience pressures and problems in their life.
.
Nana : What are some of the challenges you have faced during the course of building your brand?
Faith Fade : Finding the right vendor for our production quality and research and development. For new products, we have to sample products from many vendors so we can compare the best quality for our products,
Nana : How do you come up with the themes for each season?
Faith Fade : It comes unexpectedly, like from books, philosophy,
music, and many more. After we got the one big theme, then we break it down to some points for the articles that certainly has messages that we want to share to our audience.
Nana : Is it possible to let readers know a little about your next collection?
Faith Fade : The theme for next drop will be Dystopia. Recently we just released collections called “UTOPIA” and it tells you all about how life would be if it’s full of happiness, magic, sweets, and no worries. But maybe it’s only our wishful thinking. So we came up with DYSTOPIA as the opposite of UTOPIA. With this we want to express that maybe UTOPIA will be everyone’s dream especially for people that have many disappointment for life , but we still can’t deny the truth that life will hit you hard. So we have to stand strong even it’s something that hard to do.
Nana : Is there a particular artist, movie, place, book that you would recommend our
readers to check for inspiration?
Faith Fade : For books I would recommend Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, also some poetry books by Lang leav, and the movie, “WONDER”, adapted from the novel that have same title.
Nana : Do you have any advice for our readers who are seeking to find a way to build a brand like “Faith Fade”?
Faith Fade : You need to love what you’re doing and be original. There is nothing really original anymore, but you can always create something unique at least for yourself by not copying what others had made before. Also, it is important to search as many references as you can.
Something that we realize is that people’s faith in everything is starting to fade.
