In this issue, we welcome SVGGEST, a Bag&Goods brands from Indonesia. Animals, plans, followers, the nature is the main inspirations of SVGGEST’s products. Every product shows the natural side, and has their own values. Next season, the brand will continue to launch new products about cats. Through them, we can tell the brand’s love for nature, as well as the exploration of the relationships between humans and the nature. How it starts, what are some funny stories behind? Let’s find out.
Nana: Could you give us an introduction about SVGGEST?
Muldhan Pribadi: The SVGGEST brand started with concerns about fine art students who felt they could not find a bag (totebag) that suited their needs. From that, it was thought to make a bag that functionally can be used for various things, but is not too flashy in appearance.
Svggest is a brand that shows the value of each product, and has an identity as a human friend on every journey. Visually, every product displayed by SVGGEST shows the natural side which is certainly inspired by nature. So, humans and nature can go hand in hand, together, and depend on each other.
Art as a human thought to express something through a work, becomes a color in human life. Nature is part of life that goes hand in hand with humans, we are also part of nature that should complement each other. Wouldn’t art and nature be the perfect combination?
Starting from nature, going hand in hand with nature, and returning to nature.
That’s SVGGEST.
Nana: Why did you initially create the brand and name it “SVGGEST”?
Muldhan Pribadi: So… at first I really liked listening to music with the genre of “shoegaze” like that…
because music genres are trending, it makes me excited and gives inspiration so I thin about using the word suggest which has a similar pronunciation, is common in people’s ears, and feels closer.
But I want to be different and make a new name for it. So, because I still wanted to use that word, the letter ‘u’ was replaced with the letter ‘v’. and in the end, that name was chosen, SVGGEST!!!
Nana: What kind of experience do you want to give to the customers who use SVGGEST?
Muldhan Pribadi: We want to show customers a simple bag that reminds us of nature and can be used fordaily activities, such as work, travel, play, school, or whatever. The bags we make can accompany every user to carry whatever they need, whether the size of the bag is small or large.
Nana: How do you come up and decide on the themes for your collections?
Muldhan Pribadi: Every product we make is inspired by nature, flora and fauna that are commonly found or even rare. Not only that, each of our products is given a name from an animal or plan that matches the shape, color, or function that is similar to that animal or plant.
Nana: Is it possible to let readers know more about your next collection?
Muldhan Pribadi: We have several plans for additional collections to be made, one of which is inspired by the animals that are around us, cats. Maybe there will also be some new things that we will provide for you.
Nana: Can you tell us about some of the most challenging experiences you have had during the process of building your brand?
Muldhan Pribadi: As a brand, we want to be a sustainable brand, meaning something good that can be
done everyday. As what we always hold firmly to the “Kindness Pledge”, it’s kindness that can be done by anyone, anytime, and anywhere. Kindness that should always be spread around us, from small to big things.
Nana: Is it possible for you to share with us some memorable projects you have done before, such as collaborations or products etc. or are there any special plans for the future?
Muldhan Pribadi: There was one of the most memorable moments that I remember, at that time SVGGEST held a tree planting activity and it turned out that many people were interested and participated in the activity. It impressed me and felt so much warmth, a simple kindness that spread quickly to one another. Really, it’s fun and relaxing.
For special future plans maybe we already have some plans. In addition, we also have the desire to collaborate with local artists.
Nana: Do you have any advice for our readers who are seeking to find a way to build an innovative brand just like “SVGGEST“?
Muldhan Pribadi: In my opinion, to start something like building a brand, we must be sure of what we are going to do, because one day there will be tiring moments in doing it. Apart from that, love what you are going to do and enjoy every process whatever it is. Good luck, folks!
